I am analyzing an article from ESPN , which covers the Saint Peter’s Peacocks improbable run in the 2022 Men’s Basketball NCAA Tournament. The article is written by John Gasaway, an ESPN insider and features videos, pictures, and text to communicate the story. John does a great job of explaining why St. Peter’s cinderella story is one of a kind, and truly the first of this caliber. He explains that the Peacocks road to the Elite Eight has been cut throat, and that the rest of the bracket hasn’t made the journey any easier.

I enjoyed how video highlights from the sweet 16 game are featured at the forefront of the story, in an effort to update those who may not have been able to watch the game and get them up to speed. The article does a great job not only summarizing the contents of the video, but expanding upon them in an interesting manner. Near the latter end of the article, a stillshot of a superfan from their sweet 16 game is utilized to display the compassion and intensity felt by the diehard fanbase.

The story of the 2022 St. Peter’s Peacocks is one of a kind, and telling that story would not be complete without the proper visuals. ESPN analysts are especially talented at choosing the right shots and video packages to compliment the article. This is something I strive to incorporate and implement into my future career in Journalism. I think everyone can learn from the effectiveness of this multimedia package.
